The Labour party has once again been found out on Charing Cross Hospital.
During the general election campaign, now Secretary of State Wes Streeting MP said, “We are committed to delivering the New Hospitals Programme, including The Hillingdon Hospital, St Mary's Hospital, Whipps Cross University Hospital and Charing Cross Hospital.”
And yet it took a matter of weeks for him to put the New Hospitals Programme under review. We now know the results of this review. The floor-by-floor refurbishment which Conservatives fought for and secured, has been delayed until 2035.
Their excuse? They say there is no money, while spending billions on union bungs and attempts to give away our territory.
Our new Labour MP is nowhere to be seen, and his current record in Parliament shows him to be whip fodder who has failed to get even the most minor concessions from his friend, the Secretary of State for Health for our local hospitals.
The Labour party isn’t just letting us down over Charing Cross Hospital, but they are letting us down across the Borough, and across West London. Hammersmith Hospital and St Mary’s are also affected by their brutal review.
The local Labour Party are now undertaking a desperate defence of the indefensible. But fundamentally, you know the truth. They said one thing during the campaign and are trying to sell you something completely different.
This is what people have come to know of the Labour party. One rule for their union paymasters, another for everyone else.
You can be assured, your local Conservatives will fight for the future of our hospitals. Come us help us do so by getting involved and signing our petition.
