During the General Election campaign, Labour's health spokesman Wes Streeting MP said, “We are committed to delivering the New Hospitals Programme, including The Hillingdon Hospital, St Mary's Hospital, Whipps Cross University Hospital and Charing Cross Hospital.”
He's now Health Secretary. And just one month in, they've put the New Hospitals Programme under review.
That means they are considering scrapping the critically needed floor-by-floor refurbishment of Charing Cross Hospital.
We’re calling on:
- the Labour Government to provide urgent clarity on the future of Charing Cross Hospital
- Andy Slaughter MP and Ben Coleman MP to seek assurances that the floor-by-floor refurbishment will go ahead, as per their election campaign
- Andy Slaughter MP and Ben Coleman MP to pledge they will vote against any rolling back of this programme
